Obedience to those in authority
Contents > Propogation and Domination of Islam > Obedience to those in authority
Taa'at uli al-Amr - You must obey those in authority over you. Allah says,
"O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad [ (saw) ]), and those in authority among you. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger (saw) , if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination." al-Qur’an, Surah al-Nisaa, 4: 59
The Prophet (saw) said:
"Whosoever gives up obedience (to the caliph), and distances himself from the Jama'ah, and dies, he will die the death of Jahiliyyah." Saheeh al-Muslim, v.12, p. 441, al-Nasaa’ee, Hadith no. 4125
